Anna Small is the Chief Compliance Officer for ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Children’s. She leads the compliance and privacy efforts and ensures compliance with the health care laws and regulations that pertain to ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· system. Anna brings a wide-ranging background to her position that includes training and experience as a registered nurse, trial attorney and senior leadership team member; she still holds an active license as an advanced practice nurse.

Prior to joining ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·, she served as the Chief Compliance Officer for Shriners Hospitals for Children® and its 22-hospital system. Before moving into the compliance field, Anna worked as a health care regulatory attorney for just over a decade. She earned her juris doctorate from the Florida State University College of Law and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2005.

Over and above her role as compliance officer, Anna combines her legal acumen and clinical training to guide ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· strategic direction by serving as co-chair of the enterprise-level Strategic Initiative Management (SIM) Oversight Committee’s Core (Vetting) Team.

Anna holds faculty positions in colleges of law as her professional schedule allows. In addition to an interest in teaching, Anna is a versatile linguist. She is fluent in English and Dutch, and she’s proficient in Spanish, French and German. Her professional passions include improving access to health care, children’s and women's health issues, and international health.
