Ed Karlovich joined the ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Foundation Board of Directors in 2024. He most recently served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), a world-renowned, nonprofit health care provider and insurer. UPMC shapes the future of health through clinical and technological innovation, research and education. Ed joined UPMC in 1990 and held various financial positions over the years, culminating in his most recent leadership role.
Over his UPMC career, he assisted UPMC in adjusting to the changing landscape in health care through supporting innovative care delivery models, physician partnerships, affiliation strategies, organizational redesign and leadership development. Prior to joining UPMC, he was a senior manager and certified public accountant at Arthur Andersen & Co., where his client experience included public and private corporations and institutions.
Ed has been active in a variety of organizations over the years, including his board service to the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council, the Community College of Allegheny Foundation, and the Center for Emergency Medicine. He is active in Pittsburgh’s cultural community, serves as Board President of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, and is a member of the Finance Committee for the Senator John Heinz History Center.
He earned an Associate degree in Accounting from the Community College of Allegheny County, Bachelor of Science degree in business from Duquesne University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
