Program Overview: Emergency Medicine

The Emergency Medicine Fellowship at 消消消消消消消娼瞳 Children's Hospital, Delawareis a 12-month program for physician assistants.

This fellowship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in pediatric emergency medicine and to become a leader amongst physician assistants who desire to practice in pediatrics. Fellows will gain the fundamentals of pediatric emergency care through both didactic and clinical training, including lectures and conferences and rotations in various pediatric subspecialties.

What is the goal of the fellowship?

Postgraduate training programs for Advanced Practice Providers are growing. The intent of the fellowship is to provide a year-long, postgraduate training experience that allows for protected learning time, exposure to pediatric subspecialties and emergency medicine for Physician Assistants. The successful fellow will gradually increase their confidence and competence in managing common pediatric chief complaints presented in an emergency medicine setting.

Must I graduate from my program before I apply?

No, you do not. You will need to complete board examination and licensure prior to start date of the fellowship, but you may apply before you complete the program.

What is the start date of the fellowship?

The start date is October 21, 2024. This is selected based on accepted candidates program completion and ability to obtain licensure.

How many fellows are in each cohort?

There is one fellowship position available.

Is this a paid fellowship?

As an emergency medicine fellowship, you receive an entry level salary and full benefits.

Do you interview candidates for the fellowship?

Candidates for interviews will be selected following review of application materials.

Must I sign an employment contract if I'm accepted?

No, we do not require fellows to sign a commitment to work for 消消消消消消消娼瞳 following the fellowship. It is our hope, however, that our fellows will remain with 消消消消消消消娼瞳 after completion of the fellowship. Employment following the fellowship is not guaranteed.
