Program Overview
The Pediatric Radiology Fellowship at ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Children’s Hospital, Florida (NCHFL) is a one-year ACGME-accredited program for graduates of diagnostic radiology residencies. NCHFL is a state-of-the-art freestanding tertiary care facility for children. The hospital is part of ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Children’s Health, a nonprofit organization funded by the ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Foundation. The hospital is currently operating 135 inpatient beds serving pediatric patients from birth to 18 years. There are more than 180 pediatric medical and surgical faculty physicians at NCHFL caring for an incredibly medically vulnerable and diverse patient population across Central Florida. In addition, there are 40 categorical pediatric residents invested in the care of our patients as well as a multitude of fellows in many medical and surgical pediatric subspecialties.
The NCHFL Radiology Department performed more than 100,000 procedures in 2023. Our provider team evaluates and treats a robust variety of pediatric patients, including those with acute life-threatening illness and injury, those with chronic and medically complex disease with technology dependence, and healthy children who require acute care in the emergency department setting. As part of the largest Pediatric Radiology team in the country with the ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Children’s Radiology department, we perform well over 400,000 studies nationally with an integrated multicampus Radiology team which works together on research, education, quality and safety as well as exceptional clinical care in all subspecialties of Pediatric Radiology.
We are staffed by 15 American Board of Radiology CAQ’d physicians who provide care 24/7/365 with most having secondary fellowships in areas of pediatric radiology such as interventional radiology, neuroradiology, cardiac imaging, musculoskeletal imaging and nuclear medicine. The Radiology Department is additionally supported by dedicated radiology nurses, and advanced practice providers, radiology technologists, sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists and other expert team members to ensure optimal patient safety. ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Radiology Department has over 45 Pediatric Radiologists in addition to dedicated research PhD’s.
We provide a well-balanced pediatric radiology education within the fellowship program with exposure to all of the subspecialties and both elective and research time to provide for a complete experience and the beginning of a great career.

The Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program at ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Children's Hospital, Florida is committed to providing exceptional postgraduate medical education in pediatric radiology in accordance with the standards set forth by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Our program is dedicated to cultivating the knowledge, skills, and professionalism of our fellows, ultimately fostering the highest quality patient care and advancing the field of pediatric radiology.
Aims
The Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program engages the following aims to guide our educational efforts and ensure the comprehensive development of our fellows:
- Clinical Excellence: Our program educates pediatric radiologists proficient in the interpretation of a wide range of pediatric imaging modalities including radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and nuclear medicine. Fellows will gain expertise in diagnosing pediatric conditions across various organ systems and subspecialties.
- Patient-Centered Care: We instill in our fellows a patient-centered approach to care with effective communication, empathy, and an understanding of the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families. Fellows learn to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive, compassionate and safe care.
- Education and Scholarship: Our program fosters a culture of continuous learning and scholarly activity. Fellows engage in teaching and mentorship opportunities, including education of medical students, residents and other healthcare professionals. Fellows are required to participate in research projects, quality improvement initiatives and scholarly activities that advance the field of pediatric radiology.
- Professionalism and Ethics: We emphasize the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. Fellows learn to navigate complex ethical dilemmas in pediatric radiology, including issues related to patient confidentiality, informed consent and resource allocation. Fellows develop a strong sense of responsibility to society and the medical profession.
- Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Care: Our program trains fellows to effectively collaborate with referring physicians, surgeons, pediatricians and other specialists. Fellows gain exposure to multidisciplinary conferences and clinical care meetings to ensure robust contribution to comprehensive patient care.
- Quality and Patient Safety: Our team promotes quality and patient safety in pediatric radiology. The program explicitly teaches fellows how to participate in quality improvement initiatives, utilize evidence-based practices, and reduce medical errors.
