Get to Know Me
My mother’s career as a nurse started my interest in medicine. I volunteered as a candy striper during high school and worked as a nursing assistant through college. After college and medical school in my home state of Ohio, I moved to Delaware for a ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· residency that combined pediatrics with physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Why I Treat Children
Physical medicine and rehabilitation is a way to help children with neuromuscular conditions reach the highest function that they can. I find my patients fun to work with, I love watching them grow, and I enjoy getting to know them and their families. The kids I treat inspire me with their resilience.
What I'm Passionate About
I’m passionate about helping families of children with neuromuscular injuries or congenital issues become active, informed participants on their child’s care team. It takes a group effort to help an injured child return to prior function or to help a child with a chronic condition make the most of function they have.
How I Try to Make A Difference
I make the patient and family’s goals my own. We may be trying to return a child to sports quickly after a concussion or helping a child with a chronic condition participate in meaningful activities. Rehab at ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· means physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers and others working together with the family. Teamwork is one of our strengths.
