Get to Know Me
Dr. Wojciech Ratajczak has dedicated his career to take care of critically ill children in the intensive care unit. During that time he also developed a passion for children with congenital and acquired heart disease. To that end, he pursued advanced training in cardiac critical care medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital before joining ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Heart Center at ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ·/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Â
Why I Treat Children
Although I moved around a fair amount — I am originally Polish, grew up in Canada and completed most of my medical training in the United States — I was always confident that I wanted to work with children in a medical setting. I have a medically fragile sibling and growing up seeing her in and out of the hospital inspired me to work in pediatrics. I have found that children are able to remain playful and happy even when facing serious medical issues. I find their resilience and joy extremely motivating as a physician.Â
