Get to Know Me

I am married to a wonderful woman, and we have three adopted boys from Colombia, five cats, and a house full of craziness and love. My kids are the hardest and best part of my day, every day, and seeing them grow and mature into young men makes me grateful to be alive. They are my heart and my soul, and I have no words for that kind of blessing.

Why I Treat Children

I have always appreciated the laughter and spontaneity of children, their sweetness, their complexity, and their straightforward way of just trying to get the most fun possible out of life. I really enjoy keeping kids smiling and happy.

What I'm Passionate About

I was recently invited to the 10-year cancer free anniversary party of one of my patients. What joy to see him grow. That helps keep me going. I am also passionate about our bone marrow transplantation program, both for children with cancer and for children with non-oncologic disease.

How I Try to Make A Difference

When I was in college, I had a chance to work in a rural Mexico clinic as a translator. I was inspired by the physicians they worked so hard, with so little, and made a huge difference for people who had no other chance. Today I enjoy helping families who need Spanish to communicate with their physician.
