Voiding Dysfunction

Voiding dysfunction is when a child doesn't relax the muscles properly while peeing. The result is a urine flow that dribbles, or else the bladder doesn’t empty all the way. An overactive bladder is the most common problem children experience — they may have to pee urgently, often, have discomfort, or even avoid the bathroom altogether (hold their urine).

There could be an underlying medical reason, or your child is just too busy to take a bathroom break when they should. But over time, these symptoms and habits can lead to urinary issues. With voiding dysfunction, it might be difficult, embarrassing or simply not possible for your child to say what’s wrong.

At ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Children's, our pediatric urology team has the experience and sensitivity to care for your child in a way that helps them feel comfortable.
