Boys & Girls Clubs Magic of Literacy

Empower Youth With Knowledge

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida (), has created unique opportunities to meet the evolving needs of club youth, families and staff. The Making Academic Gains (MAGIC of Literacy) program is offered in response to the learning loss induced by the pandemic. The program works to close the learning gap by providing targeted, high-yield academic activities in dynamic ways that focus on the five components of literacy: reading fluency, comprehension, phonemic awareness/phonics, spelling and vocabulary. With strong literacy skills, reading is transformed from a source of stress to an activity that is enjoyed. Goals for the MAGIC of Literacy program are higher GPAs and increased high school graduation rates.

This initiative aligns with the Ginsburg Institute’s goal to promote child health equity by focusing on quality education. By participating in the program, youth acquire essential skills that will enhance their future opportunities.
