Language/Interpreter Services
One of the most important aspects of delivering family-centered care is making sure families are informed, in a way they can understand, about what’s happening with their child’s health at every step.
To help families like yours be the very best advocates for their kids’ care, we want to make sure you know what’s going on and what to expect — no matter what language you speak.
Language Interpreters
Spanish
Our compassionate, face-to-face Spanish language interpreters are on-site here at the hospital Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. We also can often provide families with printed educational materials translated into Spanish.
Other Languages
When you make an appointment for an outpatient visit (like a primary pediatric or specialty care visit) please let your patient representative know if you need an interpreter. Depending on the need and availability, we will either arrange to have a face-to-face interpreter here for your visit or an interpreter on the telephone who speaks your language.
Phone Interpreter Service
Our phone interpreter service is available in almost every language — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for both inpatients (staying in the hospital) and outpatients (coming in for an appointment or procedure then going home). This service allows caregivers to speak to you and your child through a telephone interpreter. Any of our caregivers can help you connect to this service whenever your child needs our care.
American Sign Language
We will also meet the communication needs for deaf children and families. When you make an appointment for an outpatient visit (like a primary pediatric or specialty care visit) please let your patient representative know if you need an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter.
